Pine Creek U. Methodist Camp and our NOMAD project

Pine Creek United Methodist Camp is near Pine Village, Indiana.  It is a large facility for a Jewish camp, children's one week camps, and family camps.  The luna moth greeted us one morning; the fireflies I'd never seen before captivated me every night!

Karen was the administrator of the camp.  She was the best multi-tasker I've ever seen...getting the camp ready, registering people, supervising the maintenance of over 50 buildings, advertising the camp, taking care of the horses if the "horse whisperers" were gone, and on and on...a very committed Christian woman.

Bill is the maintenance supervisor and such a very kind man...he can hardly wait for the children to arrive.  He can fix anything, help us with any problems we are having, and did it with such a cheerful heart.

Trey is a student at a Weslayan College and feels committed to the camping ministry.  He will be supervising the running of the camps this summer.  What a very fine young man!!
We women cleaned 11 cabins-washing more than 100 double-paned windows(insideand out), sweeping the floors, wiping off all the beds, dusting the bunk beds, sweeping the cobwebs and getting them off the outside of the building also.
We women also painted the inside of the Ark-a store and registration area with a brick walled basketball court behind this building.

There was a craft building in need of painting and so we jumped in and did that also...notice the panes!!!

The men had the really hard work - powerwashing the bottom of the Olympic-sized pool, and then powerwashing the pool bathhouses.

Then Richard and Dave painted the bathhouses - what a huge difference!

All the men painted the front of the dining hall after one couple got their church to contribute some money to finish some projects there was no money for!!!

This was my job! In a bathhouse that wasn't used for four years, the floors needed to be cleaned.  I was down on hands and knees with bleach water and a brush scrubbing the floor - someday my prince will come I suppose!!!!

We unrolled the slip and slides upside down - turning them was a real feat!!!  Earl led that project well!!

This was the hardest working group I've ever seen - with such wonderful spirit!!!!

Karen and Gene brought us brats that we barbecue with a potluck - delicious!!

It was very hot there some days and eating outside was such a treat!!!
So you want to be a NOMAD?  You can get a beautiful, free parking space for three weeks for just a little (?) bit of work!!!!  And the fellowship is marvelous.  A good time was had by all!  Earl was really the leader and he did a marvelous job - OK, truly he is my prince!!!
